Riverwind Equestrian Center has been an operational equine facility for the past 21 years. Its location along the scenic Pembina River valley provides an ideal setting for establishing the foundations of natural horsemanship within our clients and also ensures that our ponies are able to grow and thrive within lush and private surroundings.
Riverwind Equestrian Center is a uniquely multi-discliplinary equine center. Each family member that composes Riverwind's family based equine professional team has a unique equine specialization.
Diane Monro-Clarahan grew up on horseback. Within her childhood Diane was a dedicated pony breeder,trainer and competitor. Along with her sisters and her brother, Diane bred, trained and showed Shetland ponies. Diane is an accomplished equine enthusiast, holding certificates in both the Western and English rider programs and also obtaining a Pat Parelli level 3 certification. Diane is a dedicated equine instructor and volunteers her knowledge and time promiscuously throughout the region. Being the founder of a successful Pony Club and a retired 4-H Horse Leader, Diane has a long history of dedication, involvement and promotion within the immediate equine industry. In the past Diane has been successful as a barrel racer, a horsemanship competitor and as a team penner. Currently Diane has focused her energies upon the development of her reining career and is still an active competitor within the reining arena.
Blaine Clarahan has an extensive agricultural background, as such much of his riding experience and expertise are rooted within western horsemanship techniques. Blaine Clarahan is a very experienced cattle herder, and excels in roping, cattle sorting and cattle penning. Blaine also holds certificates within both the English and Western rider programs. Blaine also enjoys driving horses and ponies and is very skilled within this area of horsemanship. Blaine also volunteers is time extensively within the local area. Recently Blaine has focused upon the showring, and is currently an active competitor within the driving classes.
Shannon and Kelly-Dawn Clarahan
Shannon and Kelly-Dawn Clarahan have been thoroughly emersed in the equine industry from their birth. They both have tested to high levels in 4-H and Pony Club. Both sisters have been the receiptents of many show ring championships and awards. They have both competed as members of national hippology teams at various events located throughout North America. Both sisters are integral to the development and success of Riverwind's local pony camp, Ponies N'Pals.
Shannon currently holds certificates in the English rider program. She has been a non-accredited horsemanship judge for the past five years. She has an intense interest in dressage and is currently pursuing a coaching status within this field.
Kelly-Dawn is a very accomplished rider and has competed in a diversity of equine competitions, from gymkhana to reining and hunter. Kelly-Dawn Clarahan is a very passionate equine ethusiast and has focused upon developing her horseback career within the hunter and eventing areas of horsemanship.
